The 2012 US Presidential Election Has Been Decided

by Cliff_Feightner on June 29, 2012

Well, wasn’t that amazing; Chief Justice John Roberts voted with the majority to pass the landmark Patient Protection and Affordable Care Healthcare Law (PPACA)!  Perhaps he deserves his position after all.  I believe that this decision will decide the 2012 Election! Ex-President George Bush must be turning over in his cactus patch! Frankly, I was stunned!  To set a baseline, I repeat that I am an Independent.  I can agree with both Republican and Democratic office-holders, depending on the issue.  Political parties are for those who must be led to do the right (or wrong) thing in the voting booth.  I call them sheep.

In this landmark ruling the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOUS) said in their ruling that the ‘Commerce’ part of law is unconstitutional, but the ‘Taxing’ provision allows the act to be constitutional in the main.  Don’t let the spin-merchants (media) tell you what it says; read it for yourself Healthcare Decision.

The 2012 Presidential was decided yesterday; here is why.  Mitt Romney stated yesterday that he “”is the last off-ramp on the health care highway”.  To quote his website, “On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Obamacare waivers to all fifty states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible.”

Well, I ask you, are the following groups going to take the off-ramp?

There are roughly 150 million, or about 55% of the population, as a whole, women in the United States (Wiki). Does anyone really believe that women will take the Romney off-ramp because under PPACA women can’t be charged 150 percent more than men for insurance (a common practice), can’t be penalized for having had a C-section—and can count birth control as preventive care?  Further, under PPACA they receive mammograms and prenatal care with NO OUT-OF-POCKET costs!

The 2008 election for president garnered just 69,498,000 (popular) votes for the winner, Barack Obama.  It would seem that the woman’s vote alone will provided more than twice the votes necessary to elect the 2012 election!  But wait, there is more!

Will the 38,569,000, (16.8 million-male) vote against to repeal the PPACA given that the law closes the infamous “Donut Hole” in their health care coverage? Will they give up their guaranteed free preventive services and yearly Wellness visit to a doctor?  Probably not.

Will the parents, and children, give up the right to be covered under their parent’s healthcare plan, until they are 26?

Will moderate to low-income children give up the coverage that they are to receive under the expansion of Medicaid?  You tell me!

Will the 178,597,081 low to moderate-income individuals walk away from their coverage provided by PPACA?  If even half of that number votes, are they likely to take the Romney off-ramp of the PPACA Highway?

Will the 129 million Americans (that is one in two of us folks) with pre-existing conditions , vote against President Obama by taking the “Romney off-ramp”?  Many of those folks are chronically ill.  Do any of us doubt that they will voluntarily reject the lifetime limits on the cost of their care?  I would say, not a one of them will!

When lobbyist Jeanne Schulte Scott first coined the term ‘Obamacare’ it was a term intended as a derisive one.  When the dust settles on November 7, 2012, I believe that ‘Obamacare’ will be the deciding factor in settling the presidential election.  Can any rational, informed, non-biased citizen believe otherwise?

You may talk to me about the rise of socialism, the added ‘tax’ on all of us, and the other specious arguments offered by the ‘off-ramp’ supporters.  Here is my bottom-line.  What is the human beings (arguably) greatest fear?  I would offer that, in the main, it is the fear of death.  What generally precedes death – Illness?  How do you prevent or lessen illness – Healthcare?  Which road will most of the voting public take, the “PPACA Highway” or the “Romney off-ramp”?

You do the math and tell me what you think.  Please leave me a comment, pro or con.
